At Chatham House in London February, Muhammadu Buhari declared that if elected president of Nigeria, he would prioritise the fight against corruption, as well as insecurity and unemployment.

 

“In the face of dwindling revenues, a good place to start the repositioning ‎of Nigeria’s economy is to swiftly tackle two ills that have ballooned under the present administration : waste and corruption,” Mr. Buhari said.

 

“And in doing this, I will, if elected, lead the way with the force of personal example.”

Jonathan’s minister stole $6bn – Oshiomhole

A minister who served under the former Goodluck Jonathan administration, stole $6billion (more than N1.2 trillion), the governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, said Monday.

 

He said the details were provided last week by United States officials during President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit there. Mr. Oshiomhole, who was part of the delegation, did not give the name of the minister.

 

Nigeria bans 113 vessels from lifting crude oil

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate ban of 113 crude oil vessels from doing business in any of the 27 oil terminals within the length and breadth of the Nigerian territorial waters.

 

The ban followed a directive contained in a memo dated July 15, 2015 by the Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Gbenga Komolafe, to all terminal operators.
